Everything added together it is probably cheapest to go online and get a good airfare (try Kayak.com). The Greyhound fare is likely to be less, but then you need to eat for several days and put up with being on a bus for days on end.The cheapest Amtrak fare would be quite a bit more than a cheap airfare.
Another possibility, especially if you are traveling close to the beginning or end of a college term, is to ride share with someone else making the same trip. Local college and university newspapers (eg. the UW Daily in Seattle) sometimes have listings of people wanting passengers as well as bulletin boards with listings, or you could scan the ads in various local newspapers. One problem with ride sharing to Atlanta from Seattle is the distance--between gasoline costs and the need to eat and sleep occasionally, a cheap airfare might still be your best bet.

Cheapest way? Walk.
I didn't say it would be the safest way.
I once hitched from Chicago to Little Rock using a small hand held 40 channel walkie talkie.
Stood at the top of the on ramps and talked to the truckers across the road at the truck stops. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes at a time. They had to slow down to make the turn onto the on ramp so it was a simple matter to pull over and pick me up.
