Yes, there are many collectors of mint errors. One way you could get more information is by going to a local coin dealer. Not all of them are experts, but they should be able to steer you in the right direction.
Another good source is books. There are a few books devoted to errors or if you just want a general knowlege, below is a picture of a book that has some good, beginner information. You should be able to buy it in any bookstore or even check it out of a library if you don't want to buy it.
