Three-parter on SoulMates - What do you think?

1. If someone told you that someone else was their "SoulMate", would you think that had a romantic connotation?

2. Have you ever heard someone use "SoulMate" without meaning anything romantic?

3. What does "SoulMate" mean to you?

Thank you!

Update:

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful answers. It was really hard to choose the best one as everyone had good things to say. Thanks again!

Um I don't exactly believe it to be a sexual thing, more like a connection and understanding without even trying. I met a guy the last month of school and we seemed to have way too much in common and randomly ran into each other in different places almost every day (huge school, huge campus). We also were born on the same day and majored in the same area of study. I think people come in and out of your life for different reasons and I think we are all connected in some way or another. It's weird and I don't know why I said it but I remember telling my mom I met my soul-mate. It just came out and I don't look at this person as a romantic interest and that's what I always thought the definition of a soul-mate meant.

i honestly don't believe in soulmates but that doesn't mean they don't exist. i believe in companionship & unconditional love.

i've heard people use the term "soulmate" without mentioning love or anything romantic. some people think that a soulmate can be anyone they feel a soul connection with, whether they are romantically involved or not. i don't think much of the term, though, being that i don't believe in such a thing.

Personally I hate the saying. It is not romantic. And yes I have heard so many people say it that it is getting on my nerves. What it means is just a cute way of saying you have found someone that you have connected with better then anyone else.

It's bound to happen and it can happen more then once. And it does not guarantee that it will last.

I am just being realistic. Sorry.

I always thought a soulmate was someone that you connected with in every aspect. I can't imagine being with someone & him telling me that so and so was his soulmate.

It's like check mate, but you kiss the person first before you say; "CHECK MATE!!!" That is a soul mate. Don't let anybody tell you different.
