Does anyone know if you buy a cell phone in the US and bring it back to Europe (Russia) and put in a Russian simcard will it work there?
Can you tell me if you actually took a US phone to Europe and it worked?

You can.
As long as the phone you got is not locked to any particular country or network.
Try putting in your Russian SIM card. If the phone does not start up or if it asks for some sort of restriction code, then call up the network it is locked to and ask for it to be unlocked. A fee is normally applicable, which is around $30-50.
Once it's unlocked, the phone is free to be used on ANY network.

you cant put a russian simcard in an american phone, there different, and will screw up your phone, it will have all weird stuff and might not even turn on, i havnt actully but its common sense
