Fort Bliss, Tx?

Can anyone give me an idea on nice hotels close to Fort Bliss? Also, if you can recommend things to do or see. We will be there to see my son at the end of August.

I live in the Poconos now ,but I was stationed in Ft. Bliss for 8 years. Honestly I'm not an expert on hotels there but I know there are alot of them Embassy suits, comfort inn type places and motel 6. Depends on how much money you want to spend. I used to stay at a place called Laquinta (i think thats how you spell it) it used to be like a best western or something but they changed its name. It was fairly cheap and clean.

What to do in Elpaso???? (Fort Bliss is in the north/eastern part of the city) Well it is pretty much a desert so I hope you don't mind dry heat and alot of dust. If you have never been down there you will be impressed with the mountains and you can get some GREAT pics of them and also great sunrise and sunsets. There is a wet-n-wild right outside the city(water park) and there are a few state park type areas where you can hike etc... It isn't the most exciting place in the world but its not the worst. If I were you I would stay away from the southern parts of the city (border areas, neighborhoods) and don't go to mexico. If you MUST go during the day.

I definitely think marring someone after only knowing them for two months is alittle extreme...but that is the only reason you should be "against" this. I was married to my husband when I was 19 but we had "dated" for 3 years prior. Like all marriages, military marriages have stressors and need constant commitment. I have been a "military wife" for 2 years. She will be able to transfer schools whenever she needed and now the military will pay for it instead of you! Credit transfer is all she would need to worry about. Getting a job would be easy too..as long as they are available. She would run into the same problems regarding a job and school in Fort Bliss as she would anywhere else. I have never lived on post since I found more benefits for my family in living off post. The waiting list just all depends on how many people are waiting for housing in front of them. It could take 1 month or 1 year. They wouldn't know that until they got on the list. We have never been at Fort Bliss but it is very HOT!! That alone would probably make hate it :) The worst part to me about being a military spouse is being far from family (only 8 hours but still not 15 min like before..). It breaks my heart that our daughter cant "know" her family. She is 8 months old and has never met some that I am very close with. I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and hold friendships that I will carry with me for life. The benefits far exceed the down falls for me. Just be happy for her. If she leaves with bad terms between you, you may not have the chance to fill the gaps. My mom (my dads not in the picture) went through the same thing.. Now we have the best relationship we have ever had. Maybe you and your daughter could try and meet with a female recruiter in your area. She could explain some things to both of you. Good luck
