Connect bluetooth phone to bluetooth laptop?

I finally got a phone with bluetooth. I have no idea how to use it XD

I have a nokia 2630 (with bluetooth) and an acer aspire 5920 laptop, which im pretty sure has bluetooth capabilitys. How can i get the two to connect so i can send files (like phone wallpapers) from my laptop to my phone?

first, check your laptop if it does have bluetooth. if not, you can easily buy a cheap bluetooth dongle and voila, your laptop's bluetooth capable.

now make sure bluetooth is active on both phone and laptop.

you will need to pair the two devices before you can start any transaction between them. on your phone, select bluetooth and pair new device. it will take a few seconds to search for all available devices (it would be nice if you knew your computer's name in case it's not the only one that pops up in the results). select the device and select pair. you will then get a confirmation dialog box asking for the password on both devices. (for nokia, the default is 12345 unless you changed it) you only need to do this once for each bluetooth device.

once you've established a pairing, it will be indicated on both devices if you are connected or not. on the laptop, it will be on the system tray. on the phone, the diamond B icon will be displayed on the top.

once connected, you can transfer files, contacts, etc.

when you're done, just turn off blue tooth on one of the devices.

bluetooth works up to 10 or so meters away depending on obstruction in between. it's a tad bit slower than using a data cable, but a lot more convenient.

if you want to send a file from your phone to the laptop, just select your file and select options, send file via bluetooth. you can select multiple files.

on the laptop, it depends on your bluetooth UI (user interface), but usually, you get an option to "object push" where you'll get a list window. then you can either drag items to this window or browse for them to add them to the list. then just press send.

if you install nokia PC suite on your laptop, you can do more stuff like, sync your contacts and mail, install apps on your phone, transfer files, or use your phone as a modem to go online wherever you are.

every now and then, my PC will say bluetooth not active, please insert a bluetooth device or the phone will not detect the PC. I just unplug the bluetooth dongle and plug back in and it works fine.

    enjoy.

    Connect Phone To Laptop

You can do more than just transfer files (create play lists, backup/create new contacts, Send receive SMSs from computer, use computer’s speaker as a headset, Use your phone as a modem to browse internet etc.. ) if you install Nokia PC Suite. Download the proper version from Nokia Site. ( http://europe.nokia.com/link?cid=EDITORIAL_215671 )

You should see a Bluetooth icon on the system tray if your computer has Bluetooth and the driver is installed and working properly. If you just want to send file, then left click on the bluetooth icon, it should popup a menu with options to send a file.

The bluetooth on your laptop is only an on/off switch for a bluetooth device that's plugged into the usb port, you will have to buy one yourself.

I have sent feed-backs to computer manufactures telling them their rip-off merchants describing their products with a built in bluetooth when only its an on/off switch for a bluetooth you have to buy yourself.
