I think that specialist and experts should pick for the All-Star game, because if the fans pick the players, then they'll just pick who they like even if they're having a terrible season.

I don't get the phrase "specialists". It sounds more like sports "know-it-alls" or those that have no life other than sports and are not educated in other facets of life (see humongous loser on ESPN called "Schwab").

For me, I would have All Star voting occur with teams, their front offices, fellow players, umpires, managers and the media sportswriters. When the fans vote, it's basically for favoritism, players that females think are cute and the true star player's skills are not taken into account.

The All Star Game is kind of a sham anyway, so I'd rather the fans pick who starts. However, I would like to see one change implemented. I think senior baseball writers (the same that vote for the HOF) should have to power to overturn 2 starters for each league. That way, you wouldn't have nonsense like Griffey starting in front of other more deserving players. It would have to be awarded by percentage, of course, but it would really help to hide some of the shameful bias that homers so often rely on.

There is no best way to select an all-star team. Since it is an exhibition game for the fans I believe the fans should select the starting team just as it is currently being accomplished.
