Well first off you have to find the best technique for stroking, take a firm grasp of your shaft. Not too hard though or it could effect your swing. Make sure your balls are properly washed and ready for action, the better you take care of your balls the better the game will be. When aiming up for a shot at the hole you have to ease into it, dont just go smacking at it all willy nilly and try to get it in with luck. You have to guide it in sure precise moves. Once its in you can then go at it big time....celebration

The guy who answered this first has it on the money. I would say if you're going next week, what you have to do is hit the driving range every night. EVERY night. Go out and get a bucket at least, and concentrate on just hitting the ball strait. Don't try to hit it hard, and don't try to get fancy, just swing the club and make contact. I would also write down about how far you hit each club after a few swings. While it may not be accurate, it will at least leave you with some idea as to what club to hit when you're on the course. who knows, you may pick it up really fast and may not have to go every night, but it's a good start.

Golf isn't about how far you hit the ball, it's about how many times you hit it. Sure, if you hit the ball 300+yards, you'll no doubt hit it less, but not if you're always in the trees or out of bounds. You'll hit it far less times if you can keep the ball in play, nomatter if you hit 100 yd or 300 yd drives.

Last thing to remember when you're on the course is etiquette. replace the turf you take, and remember to keep quiet during people's swings etc. Others will help you with that.

Remember to play your own game. Just because someone is playing really well and taking weird risks and playing odd shots, doesn't mean you have to. Have fun and do what's comfortable.

Be there for her and try and get her to talk to her parents... By her talking to them gives her more options on wether or not she wants to keep it or even adoption she has more options now than she will later. Her parents will find out eventually just make sure it's not to late. And be a good friend and try and help/guide her to make the choices she wants and not what anyone "wants" her to do because she am has to deal with it later on in life no matter what she decides... And like the girl before said her parents will grow to the idea and yes there's a chance they'll loose it but the won't hurt her or the baby. So encourage her to make her decisions that will benefit her in the end.

Starting golf can be one of the most humiliating experiences in life. The only basic hints are the same as those for all ball games: "see the ball hit". Try not to swing too hard at the ball - simply aim to make contact. I would like to say "Have fun!" but I think that is a forlorn hope. Try not to lose your temper might be closer to the mark.

    Next week you say?

Well in all seriousness, you should visit your local golf range. Hit some balls, and get used to the feel of the club in your hands.

Stroke a few putts as well, getting a feel for the greens speed, and your tempo..

It is important to remember, its your first time, do not go out with big expectations. Go play to have fun, dont be concerned with scores either.

When stroking, I find it's best to make my hand numb first.

Ball handling. Not to hard, for crying out loud!

Putting it in the hole... Aim bro, Always be precise..If your going for the hole on the BACK 9, Make sure to yell "FORE" first.

Source(s): HAHAHA-- I just realized that we weren't in P/S,,,,
  • Practice taking a few shots at home before you go out to the course. You don't want to release too early...that's important when you're in the game.

Well I know that you can wash your balls manually, but there are also mechanical ball washers available. I prefer the hands-on technique myself
