Did you empty and depressurize the system before you attempted to fill it? Make sure there isn't any pressure by pushing in on the shrader fitting (its like a valve stem) on the cold side. I would pull it all the way out to make sure it is working right. A valve stem tool is all you need. I just thought of something that might have a bearing. Is it retrofit for r134 refrigerent? Make sure you have matching fittings for what you are filling it with. The r-12 that came with has different size fittings on both the hot and cold side. Good luck

go from that small tank, it should have a valve on it, also start your car and turn it on max when you charge it.
