Here are some tips to stay safe during a lightening storm:
-Monitor local weather conditions regularly with a special weather radio or AM/FM radio.
-Look for a large, enclosed building when a thunder or lightning storm threatens. That's the best choice
-If you are in a car and it has a hard top, stay inside and keep the windows rolled up.
-Avoid small sheds and lean-tos or partial shelters, like pavilions
-Stay at least a few feet away from open windows, sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, electric boxes and outlets, and appliances. Lightning can flow through these symptoms and "jump" to a person.
-Do not shower or take a bath during a thunder or lightning storm
-Avoid using regular telephones, except in an emergency. If lightning hits the telephone lines, it could flow to the phone. Cell or cordless phones, not connected to the building's wiring, are safe to use.
Hope this helps! =]

This question comes up all the time. No, it is not safe to take a shower during a thunder and lightening storm. Stay away from any water during a storm.

Nope. The pipes in your house are made from copper, which, apart from gold and superconductors, is the best material for conducting electricity. Since the water pipes come from the ground, the same place the lightning goes to, a current can be sent through the pipes, and into you if you are in water, especially if your drain is clogged. It's a long shot that this will happen to you, but better safe than sorry.

It is a little dangerous. Lightning always makes contact with the highest grounded object in the area. Grounded just means it is making direct or indirect contact with the ground. If you are in a low area then you would be safe. It is just a precaution to not shower during lightning because if you did make contact with the lightning, then being wet could make you more suseptable to the lighting, making it more dangerous to your life.

I think that you should be careful about it and that you should never do that on a mountain because we all know how lighting go's for the easiest way to ground which is through the mountain going through pipes through water and maybe through you too and then to the earth core I think

No, the lightning can follow the water, and/or drain pipe, and shock you. You are standing in water, which is a good conductor of electricity. Same for taking a bath. Get out of the water.
