Will I get charged if a text is through aim?

My friend has an international phone and moved to the phillipines. I have a T-mobile phone here in California. Both of us have unlimited text. Since texting him directly would cause me to be charged, I log into Aol Instant Messenger through my phone and text him through aim. Will I be charged for that?

Update:

I don't use the AIM cell phone application, I text "Login (Screenname) (Password)" to 246246, which is aim mobile's menu. So my friend & I receive IMs as texts, not as texts in a phone application.

    It counts as texts.

But if you have unlimited texting to ANYONE, then it fits into your texting package and you won't be charged.

For some companies yes, and others no. It just matters your plan. The only way to get a for sure answer is to call the T-mobile store and have them log into your account and let you know. Because you could ask someone who uses T-mobile and they could give you the wrong answer because they might have a different plan then you. So try that.

Aim on cell phones always charges! That's why I like standard texting.

use aim mobile txt, not app. i use aim mobile txt. do this by ckcujubg the cell icon on the bottom of the AIM module. enter you digits, and then you're off. make sure someone IMs you first, or just use aim or text. you're being charged.

You will be charged for internet usage. If you both have unlimited text, then you should be using that.
