Top secret US military plans to test deadly nerve gas by dropping it on soldiers in a remote Queensland rainfo
What DO you Americans think of your fantastic nation. (11:00 AEST Sat Jul 5 2008
6 hours 9 minutes ago
By Ross Coulthart, SUNDAY
Newly declassified Australian Defence Department and Prime Minister’s office files show that the United States was strongly pushing the Government for tests on Australian soil of two of the most deadly chemical weapons ever developed, VX and GB — better known as Sarin — nerve gas.
The plan, which is disclosed for the first time on tomorrow’s SUNDAY program on Nine, called for 200 mainly Australian combat troops to be aerially bombed and sprayed with the chemical weapons — with all but a handful of the soldiers to be kept in the dark about the "full details" of the tests.
A former senior official with then Prime Minister Harold Holt, Mr Peter Bailey, tells the program that as far as he knows the tests never went ahead but the planning was very advanced.
He admitted the whole operation was to be kept secret because use of such weapons was almost certainly illegal under international law at the time.
This is to be aired in a Sunday (channel 9) special sunday morning at 730 am.
It was just report on NineMSN. I assume the source is secure.
it was held by Australian Government departments. Not exactly a feather in our cap either. let's wait and see the report tomorrow.
Theres many stories about this kind of stuff. Because we know this kind of stuff happened. Im as ashamed of Australia's governmance. as The USA's Isn't it funny that Harold Holte, The then Prime minister, disapeared!

Saying something is not true when you don't know any of the facts could be colloquially deemed as putting the cart before the horse.
This story has only just broken today and so far we have been given a brief insight into the issue.
A former senior official with the then Prime Minister Harold Holt, Mr Peter Bailey has indeed confirmed the matter.
In response to Pat R making comments without any actual facts. Your comment and I quote
"America is hated because we are the richest nation in the world and that makes us the biggest target for ridicule as well"
In fact you are not the richest nation in the world you actually ranked 6th the list being
1.Qatar 2. Luxembourg 3. Norway 4. Brunei 5. Singapore and then yes number 6. USA and yes that's an actual fact.
Your other comment and I quote "Besides, if we were such a horrible nation, why does 80% of the worlds population want to come here?"
Can I ask where you pulled this figure from.
One can only presume that everyone in the world has been asked where they would wish to live.
The only people that seem to think USA is so great is the USA themselves, but with that said I think anyone from any country is going to think their country is the greatest.
I am not saying there is anything wrong with the USA but what I don't understand is why you PRESUME everyone want's to live there, I for one do not.
As for the testing of the deadly Sarin gas why could it have not been tested in the USA? why, because why would anyone want to test a deadly gas in their own country in which they reside.Instead we'll just test it in another country and harm their people.
It just show's the pompous attitude of some citizens (not all) of the USA back then and that is still prevelant to this day, in thinking they are above everyone else with a good example of the two previous comments that were made and that I have quoted.
With that all said I have my own personal remarks being : It's not that your the richest country (which your country is actually not) that makes you a target for ridicule.
It's the attitude of over exuberant self importance displayed by certain members of your country's society that is the cause for ridicule.

i think of usa IS an remarkable u . s . a .! thoughts concerning the U.S. defense force checking out one nasty weapon after yet another on harmless every person is in each single place. that's needless to say a sort of thoughts. have you ever observed that those thoughts constantly look "genuine secret". And that no person looks to truly know the place precisely those thoughts come from and that the pronounced "exams" never particularly took place yet have been constantly "very progressed". Does the call Alex Jones mean something to you? This tale actually stinks of him. So why try this? person-friendly, the U.S. is the only ultimate superpower and there are people who merely won't be able to stand that fact. usa is hated because of the fact we are the richest u . s . a . interior the international and that makes us the biggest aim for ridicule as properly. i've got had the solid fortune of particularly making use of for the duration of this u . s . a ., two times. we are a sturdy human beings, and not resemble what some detractors say approximately us. as properly, if we've been this form of terrible u . s . a ., why does 80% of the worlds inhabitants prefer to return right here? some one has been interpreting too many comedian books and promoting what they have study as information.

I think America IS a fantastic nation!
Stories about the U.S. military testing one nasty weapon after another on innocent people are all over the place. This is obviously one of those stories.
Have you ever noticed that these stories always seem to be "Top Secret". And that no one seems to really know where exactly these stories come from and that the reported "tests" never actually happened but were always "very advanced".
Does the name Alex Jones mean anything to you?
This story literally stinks of him.
So why do this? Easy, the U.S. is the sole remaining superpower and there are people who simply cannot stand that fact. America is hated because we are the richest nation in the world and that makes us the biggest target for ridicule as well. I've had the good fortune of actually driving across this country, twice. We are a good people, and in no way resemble what some detractors say about us. Besides, if we were such a horrible nation, why does 80% of the worlds population want to come here?
Some one has been reading too many comic books and selling what they've read as news.

LifeCoach, this sounds like another "tailwind" story, why would we or you or anyone drop gas that can kill someone that is on our side? We have indoor test labs that do the same thing so if they are testing the kit for protection there is no need to do it since you can control the temps, conditions, etc...in those labs and have no danger of anyone else getting hurt. Second, do you really think something like that could be kept quiet? IF you do you are silly and watch way to many gov't conspiracy movies. How would you explain the 200 Aussie Soldiers gone? You cannot just disappear people like that despite what you see in the movies. How would you get rid of the residue that was left and not attract attention? What about wildlife that would be hit by it, how would you cover that up if it was discovered? Your whole premise is truly crazy, our Gov't can't keep a secret to save it's life and you think they could pull off something like that and even more so, why would they? Now, if you said dropping tear (CS) gas, that is different, we do that all the time to test stuff but all that does is make you get sick and maybe vomit. Again, why would we do it to your soldiers when we can do it to ours and do to it to ours? Check your paranoid facts before you spout off with this type of bad gouge. They would not drop actual sarin gas on our own guys, it is just silly to think they would.
ANY AND ALL WHO THINK THIS IS A REAL STORY PLEASE SHOOT YOURSELF AND SAVE THE GENE POOL.

You have ignored how Australia was sh!tting their pants because of Indonesia's 3 million-man army up north being led by anti-Western provocateur par excellence Sukarno, a soldier and hero of the Revolution.
Australia did the following after changing its' many soiled underpants:
Bought F-111C's- not as ground fighter-bombers BUT because they were designed by the US as first-strike nuclear straegic bombers.
Australia was contemplating the getting the A-Bomb at the time.
Check out http://www.sonicboom.com/ where British and Australian soldiers detonate a simulated nuclear blast with 50 tonnes of TNT above rainforest- to simulate a nuclear strike on Indonesia or Papua New Guinea (Australia feared losing its' sparsely populated resource colony of pliant primitives- remember BHP/Rio Tinto in Bougainville with Sandline mercenaries?)
Australia had seen Indonesia victoriously sweep aside the Dutch, Portueguese and made the British quit the field thus knew if SUkarno set his sights on the US-UK outpost of Australia, it would be comepletely and utterly over-run and annihlated like the VietCong did to the AVRN.
The nerve gas was simply part of a larger Ausgralia-UK-US grand strategy to retain New Guinea and Australia, AND prevent Indonesia taking Malaysia and Brunei (Brunei and Sarawk province referendums clearly demonstrated a popular democratic desire to join with Indonesia- thus Kalimantan aka Borneo would be all Indonesian- inluding its' Ropyal Dutch Shell and BP refineries and oil pipelines.)
Economic resources- the only motive for war.

You'd have to have a top secret clearance to know this IF IT WERE TRUE. Do you have a top secret clearance?
PS--I am a former US Army soldier and worked in intelligence. We often worked with Aussies and had Aussie soldiers attached to our battalion
My soon-to-be-husband is a New Zealander living in Sydney, and I am going to be moving there to be with him soon. My point is--we're all friends, okay? Love, don't be hatin'

See this is why I'm glad America is our boss now.
When the British owned us they dropped nukes on us.
Sarin is a much nicer way to show your dominions some love.

If this story were true (which, clearly it is not) what do YOU think of YOUR government for even considering allowing that to happen?
