Which large breed of dog enjoys hot weather?

We live on the Gulf Coast. I don't want to be the idiot with the Siberian Husky.

How about a Rhodesian Ridgeback? Maybe a Doberman Pinscher? German Shorthaired Pointer? Vizsla or Weimaraner? Dalmatian? Or possibly some sort of Coonhound?

Hi, I have a Saluki and live in the UAE. It is permanently hot here and she naturally loves it! Infact, we have 6 dogs in total, 1 Saluki, 1 Spitz. 2 Saluki X's, 1 Samoyed (shaved!!!) and a Malamute X. The Saluki breeding is well suited to the heat and is a stunning, graceful tall dog, though ours are the short-haired ones. Hope this helped.

  • Well done you.

Any short haired dog really, German Pointer, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Labrador just to name a few. The list is endless. Get one of these books dogbreeds of the world or something like that and look at the dogs that are native/bred in hot or warm climates.

Be advised that the Greyhound does not do well in extreme weather conditions.. whether it be hot or cold. Just wanted to let you know.
