How can we send this guy a Court Summons?
My boyfriend and I had a roommate who had recently got out of jail. (I know this was a bad idea but the guy was friends with my boyfriends brother).. So anyway the guy we rented to just up and left one weekend when we were out of town he just up and moved out. The problem is he owes us rent and utilities and left all kids of trash in his room.
We want to serve him a summons for court to make him pay... herein lies the problem. We have no address... we called his probation officer and they won't give us his address nor will they forward a summons to him, they will only pass along a message asking him to contact us. We called the magistrates office and they won't summon him without an address and can't help us get it from probation either...
Does anyone have any ideas? It sounds like we are caught in a catch-22
(My boyfriends brother feels abd about the whole thing and hasn't heard from his (ex)friend since he took off)

You could conduct a background search or a people search, but you would likely be wasting your time if he does not have any property or utilities in his name. Under the current legal system if you want to file a civil suit against someone, it is your responsibility to determine where they live or work. You could try tracking down relatives or friend of this person, but they are likely to refuse to give you his current address.
Hiring a private investigator will cost more money than it is worth, so you are probably out of luck here unless you get lucky and run into him by chance.
