Direct deposit with basic checking.?
Hi, i am currently working for robert half (temp agency), the way i get paid is through direct deposit. The thing is i only have a basic checking account which doesn't allow me to write checks. I was wondering would it be possible for me to get direct deposit for my checking and saving accounting. By the way my bank is citibank.

You misunderstand something. If you are not allowed to write checks, by definition, you DON'T have a CHECKING account. As a rule, you can have direct deposit into ANY bank account. Most employers offer dividing your pay into more than one account.

Direct deposit can be split amongst several accounts by percentage of your check, specific amounts of your check or the whole check can be deposited into any type of account you wish, check, savings, money market, etc...I am amazed that with a basic checking account that you do not have the ability to write checks. I suggest finding a new bank then changing your direct deposit.

This is a very vague answer but will hopefully help. When your husband leaves for BCT it will take a while for him to get payed since there are also hundreds of other soldiers needing to get payed as well. There is a program that the Army runs that will get you money to help you make ends meet if need be, I'm pretty sure it's on an advance pay so it will come out of next check. The Army will help you out with this transition, at least you now know that resource is there!

Yes, you can still have a Direct Deposit with no writing of checks; they should issue you a Debit card to use, however, for withdrawals or purchases. My daughter just opened an account like that. (no check writing but a debit card issued).

Hello my friend,
Banks like direct deposit. They get your money before you do.
I don't think you will have a problem.
Call Citibank to make sure.
I hope this helps.
