why is it being different is so hard for americans to understand???

I'm Chinese and live in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood for almost 4 years. While i have friends that are hispanic, it seems like for many of my neighbors, its hard for them to accept me as chinese. Sometimes, they say "hey chino", parents don't seem to mind that their kids are being ignorant of others, people make jokes about asians when i walk by. so why is it so hard for them to accept me as a different race without being ridiculed or thinking they are superior to asians? What if I explode one day and seriously hurt someone?

Can anyone give me tips about dealing with this?

Also what if when i grow up and become a doctor and i meet patients that don't want to see an asian doctor?

What should i do???????

I don't give a rat'sass what color Dr. Won or Dr. Juan are? If I'm in trouble, I'm going to the one that can save my life. Work hard, do good in school, and don't worry about your neighbors. There are a lot of good Hispanics that aren't judgmental and racist - and there are some that are. You can't look at people as a whole racial group and get an accurate depiction of who they are.

In regard to hurting someone. Please don't. When people do that, they always get the wrong person.

I agree there are some nasty Hispanics; they leave Corona bottles all over their camp sites, they play loud music about their corazons at all hours of the night, they bring tuberculosis from Central America, they're in gangs and sell drugs, they're the kind of vile human refuse that are too putrid to respect other people's property enough to carry car insurance, they aren't respectful enough to learn English, and they let their kids run around Wal*Mart without a second thought to their well being. I would support a invader kill-zone along the Rio Grande for that type of scum. But you know what? That's probably only 3% of the hispanic population if that. Most of them are hard working, family oriented, carrying, kind people. The few ruin the name for the many. You could come up with the same kinds of examples for whites, blacks, Indians, Chinese, or anybody else.

Unfortunately, it is very common for people to make fun of things that they don't understand...if others are not "like" them then they feel intimidated in some ways.

Regardless of your nationality, you will find that some people will choose not to be seen by you as a doctor ( or counselor, or lawyer, etc).....that's ok. It is their choice and you should not consider this to be a poor reflection on you. Consider it their loss caused by their closed-mindedness.

I think that education and awareness is the best answer to this problem. Help your neighbors to understand more about your culture, perhaps by inviting them to a Chinese dinner, or to celebrate a Chinese celebration in your home.

People are ignorant and you are going to discover that in all places the arena. You can both forget about them or permit it devour you up within. If you explode a few day and harm any one you are going to deliver them the superb victory seeing that you are going to without difficulty finish your possess lifestyles and something goals you had in your long term; is it valued at it? And being a health care professional and demanding approximately sufferers now not in need of to peer an Asian health care professional is particularly foolish and why are you writing a screenplay approximately whatever that has now not occurred but and surely not ever will occur? Relax, revel in your lifestyles and forget about inconsiderate individuals.

Hey I'm mixed and I'm the only girl in my neighborhood that is made up of white people. I know how you feel. There shouldn't be a problem. Think of the whole "melting pot" thang. we all are in a country of blended races and religious backgrounds. don't feel bad or feel like the black sheep of anything pertaining to something you can't help. I hope I helped.
