Hotel for under $100 w/ access 2 public transporation. Goose Island Neighborhood, Chicago, IL USA?
A friend is coming into town to go to the Green Tie Ball, an event to raise money with all proceeds going to support the efforts of "Chicago Gateway Green".

He needs to find a hotel for pretty cheep but I can't find anything with in 50 miles of Chicago for under $100 a night.
Do you know of any small places that might not advertise like the chains?

And he will need a room from about Friday, September 12, 2008 through (as of right now) Monday, September 16, 2008.
Access to public transportation a plus!

Well, there's an SRO in Chinatown. Now, an SRO sounds kinda skeezy, but this one requires a credit card to check in which will definitely keep out the riff-raff. And it's 97.50 a night. (http://www.hotels.com/property.do?searchMtmPropert...
And there's a hostel in downtown Chicago that he might want to check out. Rooms there are $30-plus bucks a night. (http://www.hichicago.org/). And there's Arlington House Hostel where a private room will run out abuot $80 a night (http://www.arlingtonhouse.com/private.html). And there;s the Chicago Hostel, with at the high end will run you about $40 a night (http://www.arlingtonhouse.com/private.html). It's on the far north end of the city, but it's near a pretty nice coffee shop, Metropolis (http://www.metropoliscoffee.com/). ALL of these are very close to many forms of public transportation (bus and elevated train)
