2000 ford f-150 alignment?

I just had a 2000 ford f-150 repaired on. I had the ball joints replaced with new ones, there are 2 for each front tire. 4 total. I had this done because I went in for an alignment and they told me they were real bad. they showed me visually so i said okay do it. i also said for it to be realigned. well i get the truck back the ball joints are new but my steering wheel is crooked to the side like it was before. that's why i went in, because i was tired of driving with the steering wheel turned at 10 o clock .well it's still turned at 10 to drive straight. the mechanic said that if i got new tires it should adjust it self out. i told him i was getting new tires anyways and he said that he would adjust for free if it didn't align with the new tires. shouldn't it be aligned right now? i just paid $455 dollars for this work. tell me if i'm being ripped off. it's like i'm driving with a crooked steering wheel still but with new ball joints. someone please help me. i'm broke over this crap

Your being taken for a ride. New tires will not straighten out you crooked. wheel. If the truck is pulling and you have to hold it at the 10 o'clock position to drive straight then it could be tires but they should of explained that to you when they did the alignment.

If it was me I would get my tires at some other shop and make them fix the steering wheel. Ask to speak to the manager and make a big deal out of it. They should take care of it especially if other customers are around. If that don't help then you could always talk with the Better Business Bureau.

$455 is a good price for 4 ball joints alignment and 4 tires. or even just the bj's and the align. The wheel should be straight after the align unless the caster is off and your having to compensate for a pull . But after the align and new tires there should be no pull . And also if not done yet it may require camber kits in he upper control arms to be able to adjust camber and caster. I try and sell those with the ball joints so you just pay for the part not having to remove the control arm again. And on the newer alignments machines the steering wheel holder is no longer needed they have a win toe program or at least on the hunter systems. And tires can make the wheel crooked if you have a radial pull.

When a truck or a car is aligned there is a steering wheel brace that fits under the steering wheel between the wheel and the seat. After they do the pre-adjustments then the brace gets put in place. Its clear to me that who ever did the job didnt put the brace in the vehicle. After the alignment is done the vehicle will not adjust itself it needs to be done again.

The guy's an idiot. New tires have nothing to do with the way the steering wheel is ******. Getting the steering wheel straight is a basic part of an alignment. You didn't get what you paid for.

You'll probably get better gas mileage with the Ford but you get more truck with the 2500 as it is basically the next step up from the F-150.

If you paid to have them to align it, and it's not aligned, they should take it back and do it again, that's warranty
