Drinking Hydrogen Peroxide?
I've been drinking hydrogen peroxide so I can stay up longer and study. It seems to give you the same energy you would get after going for a jog, only it's a hell of a lot easier. Will it kill me? Are there any known side effects? How does it work?
It is actually naturally occurring in raw foods, the air, and your mother's milk. It is ingested regularly through regular things. Chlorine is in your water for god sake, anything can kill you if taken in toxic levels.

Hi alison. You've actually touched upon something here which is a topic of debate among many in the medical profession. Internal use of Hydrogen Peroxide is administered by some medical professionals and is called 'Oxygen Therapy'. The theory behind this is that increased levels of Oxygen in the blood is beneficial to ones health, and Hydrogen Peroxide has very strong oxidizing properties. This is why you get your increase in energy. When you exercise (like your example of going for a jog) you increase the rate your heart beats and you pump more oxygen around your body. Your shortcut does much the same thing. The hydrogen peroxide you ingest is absorbed in to your blood stream where enzymes known as peroxidases catalytically decompose the hydrogen peroxide to nothing but water and oxygen. The flip side to this, however, is that high levels of hydrogen peroxide in the blood can create oxygen bubbles that can block blood flow which in turn can cause gangrene and death.
If you are going to ingest hydrogen peroxide then I would advise using a concentration of around 3% - 5% (This is about the strength of the stuff you would get from a chemist for treating wounds). Also try to consume only the very least you need for your energy boost and try not to make a habbit of it. DO NOT use 35% concentration as suggested above as this can cause vomiting and severe burns of the throat and stomach.
I myself am a student and I know how hard the revision season can be (thankfully my exams are over for the year). This year the substance of choice for 'study parties' was Modafinil which here in the UK is not a controled substance. If, however, you are in the US I'm afraid it is a controled substance but it's sister drug Adrafinil is still unregulated and as such you can import, posess, and take this legally. It may be an idea to research these as they are superior to hydrogen peroxide in many ways when it comes to studying.
To summerise... no, it won't kill you. Possible side effects would be mild to moderate damage to your throat and stomach if taken at a high enough concentration. It works by increasing the oxygen levels in your blood.
Sorry if this seems like too much of an essay but I thought you may appreciate a more detailed answer as this involves your health. I wish you all the best with your studies and hope the added energy boost here and there pays off for you.

HEY PEOPLE With HEARTBURN PROBLEMS!! I found this forum because I decided to try drinking a half tspoon of the regular OTC Hydrogen Peroxide (Brown Bottle Stuff). There is a specific part of my lower esophagus that always burns way more than any other part when I get heartburn, and reflux. I kinda laid at a position that would enure the Peroxide would hit that bad spot. I have to say, it worked better than anything I've ever used. Instant relief, and no weird sugar crash, or whatever feeling I get when I use Tums, or Mylanta. I've only tried this 3 times in the past 24 hours. So don't go nuts people. But I would recommend trying it. Don't go swigging from the bottle.
Lemme know how it works out for you.

I think EzFoxie had the best answer. One thing not touched on was the fact that some physician's, not many, but some give H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) intravenous. Soooo...it would seem there are benefits to it.
Here is a link that has a great article on this:

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://tinyurl.im/aHM4w
The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

I've heard of Oxygen Therapy, but nothing could convince me to drink the stuff other than swishing it around for whiter teeth or a cut.
When I had a medical difficulty, I started to put cosmetic grade peroxide in my bath water (at the risk of looking real weird, I will admit this was from high strength hair color developers found in beauty supply stores, and I still question the safety of that.. but afterall it is understood to be on the skin at lengths of time.. not that I trust the ingredients in a lot of products that are allowed for the skin). I think that people tend to underestimate the power of skin absorption. A little fizzy kind of. I did think I got a little energy buzz from it, but at the same time, I think there was a tendency to conk out and sleep afterwards.

The white bubbling is only the release of Oxygen from the Hydrogen Peroxide. If you ingest it, it will most likely react with any bacteria or damaged cells that it touches. The only real damage ingesting it can do is enter Oxygen directly into your blood stream through the small intestine. Which can lead to oxygen poisoning, that you can die from.

YOU CAN DRINK HYDROGEN PEROXIDE!!
In small amounts
athletes use it to build up stamina
it is naturally occurring
Hydrogen peroxide is cheap and effective and it cures a lot of problems
Not exactly sure what it does, but I read that it increases your oxygen content in the body, which could result in your increased in energy; which is why athletes use it for stamina purposes
