Wiring on a '78 Yamaha DT175?
I have a '78 Yamaha dirt bike. It had tons of crap on it like turn signals, head and tail lights, horn, which my husband cut off. So now I need to know which wires are crucial to make the bike start up. I do have the wiring schematic, but I'm not familiar with electrical stuff, so it's kind of confusing, especially because I don't know what is important and what is optional.
Can anyone tell me which wires need to be intact to make the bike start up?

Look for the BLACK wire coming out of the engine near the points cover. There will be a bundle with a plug that has three or four wires (blue, red, green, black.......whatever)
You will only need the BLACK wire out of the bunch.
Next depends if it has points or electronic ignition. If it has elect. ign. you will need the little black box under the gas tank (CDI box) otherwise just hook up to your coil and you should get spark - as long as you still have a coil, plug wire and spark plug LOL!
Also don't forget to keep your kill switch intact
Good Luck!
