Do you think the All Star Final Vote has been great for baseball?

Over 33 million votes have been cast. 11 million on the first day which was a record. People are going crazy (I live in St. Pete, FL and all my friends are voting for Evan Longoria even if they are only casual fans). People are talking baseball on sites like facebook, and it has been a lot of fun the past few days. At least for Rays fans it has been. What are your thoughts?

Yes, it is good if you put in that perspective.

I live in Tampa, and it the exact same as in St. Petersburg.

However, the voting is bad for baseball.

If the ASG has weight to it (homefield advantage in the WS), it should not be the fans that are voting, it should be the managers of teams. Otherwise, it is just a popularity contest. Like Jason Varitek, he should not have gotten into the ASG.

Yea, i think it has, because it takes all the talented baseball players and put them on a team that will do really good. Also it will give the players from all over the country a chance to get to know other players and that is good for their self esteem.

Giambi and Wright will most likely win because they both play in a large city, so there are more votes to be had in NYC then in Tampa Bay.

  • I guess. But I think fans should get to vote for one player, fan voted all-star. Then players vote for the rest of the team.

I think it has & all home teams who have players chasing that last spot on the all star team, they will vote for their hometown player, which is okay & I did cast my vote, but not all for any one player in particular
