National Guard?
My 31 year old brother went and joined the Michigan National Guard and now the whole family is upset because he is going to be shipped off to IRAQ and die... He starts boot camp in November, what can he do to get out of this.
He already took the BS/OATH
He can't walk down the street with out almost die'n, So the best way out is to not show up then!
I can not support his decision because I would not join any service during war time and not a country that can not elect a decent president.. I love this county but its becoming a joke!
He knows he made a mistake now... Be appalled all you want you must not have a brother thats 1 IQ point away from being legally retarded!

That is not good... best idea is to just not show up... in the worst case prison is better than death... and with the current state of the country prosecuting a 31 year old is a long shot.. if you can find a doctor there will be other ways out so look in to those first.

I'm appalled at you and your family because of the lack of support to what your brother wants to do. It was his decision to make. Eventhough you and family don't like it but he needs your support right now since he will be shipped sometime soon. He is 31 and you are upset because he made his own choice to join the military?

ok first off, just because you get shipped over doesn't mean your gunna die. im in the guard most of my friends have been over there all alive. there glad they went. don't believe the BS that you see on CNN its not as bad as they will make it seem. since the Guard doesn't have a DEP the only way he can get out of it is transfer to the navy or air force BEFORE he ships. or pop positive on a whiz quiz (drug test) and dishonorable discharge. not a good idea cause once you get one of those Macdonald's wont even hire you. God bless, hope your brother choose wisely.

If he is still in the delayed entry program he can back out at any time prior to taking his final oath. There is no certainty that he will be shipped to Iraq and even if he is the majority of us come home. If this is his decision and it is what he wants to do I think you should support him and help him in any way you can.

if he actually enlisted with the National Guard he is not in any type of DEP (delayed entry program) becuase he swore in twice. He's in. He'll have to report every month for drills even before his ship date for basic training. I just went through all of this with my boyfriend. He's in the Florida National Guard. He tried to get out but his request was denied. He is going to try again 6 months after basic to switch to the Air Force but we have been told that his chances of being released are low. The best your brother can do is contact your Congressman to assist in trying to release him, but as I said my boyfriend did everything and was not released. Just try, thats the best advice I can give.

start here he might go to Iraq But he probably Wont Die there and if he hasn't started boot camp yet chances are his unit will be back from deployment by the time it takes to train him.
