Do You have any suggestions??

for the background or anything to make this painting more interesting?

Its a picture of my grandma with rollers in her hair.

also, do you think it would look better with a skin tone instead of the black and white?

Hi Mrs Garret, I love you!

I agree with Ashley's answer. It looks good as is. I wouldn't add any color. The only thing I think I would do is lighten the green background. Green & Red are complimentary colors so it's a nice feel to the painting. but they are both darker hue's (subject & background). So I bet if you lighten the background it would make the subject pop even more! Nice work!

If it were me I'd have a flat muted pink tone( say a pink from the 1950's) in the background with chocolate brown paisley designs painted on top.Nice painting by the way.

Actually, it's pretty good just how it is. I'm a painter myself and when you stick to something for a while you start to go "blind" not notice every detail in the picture, I forgot the word for it. Put it away for a few days, then take it out again, then it'll be like your eyes are refreshed and then you'll realize what it needs. It helps me all the time.
