i did a bunch of research on deck stains and went with Penofin. It is very expensive, it is oil based with no wax or polyuerthane,,my deck is made of Ipe (a brazillian hardwood), Penofin brings out some of the color and grain of the wood, colors over the scratches and scrapes and makes it look brand new...I suppose it depends on what type of wood you use on your deck,,is it pressure treated pine or something like redwood or someother exotic wood..If it is for pressure treated pine, you probably dont need to go high-end,,but if you have some exotic hardwood, definitly go with Penofin

Sikkens from Holland and available in the states is a really good product. They super grind their minerals so the penetration is excellent. They have been in business for generations, and the Dutch, if you remember, were famous for their artists, so they know how to make paint. Go online to find a local supplier.
