Help with fixing A/C in 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?

We asked a mechanic and he told us that the fan switch was what needed replacing to get the A/C working again. We ordered the part from Mopar and got it the next day, then we put it in and nothing. We checked the fuses, and they all looked fine, any ideas on what could be wrong??

P.S. We checked and the wiring harnesses are hooked up correctly in the back of the switch so that's not the problem.

Thanks,

In advance for any help

you may have a blower motor resistor bad on it that will knock the fan totally out on that one,if the fan isn't working on it its the blower motor resistor that's bad,not the switch, that was a common problem with those vehicles,i know i have replaced two of those this week,I'm surprised the mechanic didn't check that too, good luck with it.

    Hey Red

Take it back to Dodge, that is what you should have done in the first place, for all you know the fan it self could have gone out and not the switch. If you really want to try and find the problem your self, you can always try jumping the fan motor. Unplug the fan take a long wire and a circuit tester, stick one end of the wire to something to ground it on the body of the truck and tie the other end to the motor, with the circuit tester, put the clip on the positive side of the battery and the tip or the tester touch the open prong on the fan, if it spins you no it's not the fan, if it doesn't you no it is. You are by-passing the switch and giving it direct power, that is why it is called jumping. If it still doesn't work then it could be the air compressor it self, then you have to take it in any way.

If you are not a good back yard mechanic, then you should take it back to Dodge, if you don't know what you are doing you can really mess up the truck and it's computer, then you will have a 35,000.00 dollar planter in your yard.

Good luck and take care....Keep the Faith....PECE....cya....

I stay in Australia and we've a Hyundai this is the "maximum stolen"/ the reason at the back of this is with the help of the fact that's particularly common to start up...in certainty that's started with small knife or comparable. God, even a McDonalds coffee stirrer will start up one. Is your stay away from common to start up without the significant?
