I have used the software Microsoft Home Publishing and really enjoyed it. Now for reasons unknown it will no?

enjoyed it. No longer will it go in and I would like to replace with something more modern. It would be deeply appreciate if somebody would recommend soft ware that would allow me to produce cards and what have you from mostly my own design or photographs.. Really I need home publishing software. I have been with you for some time and would appreciate an answer

Update:

I am really moved by the answers received and thank everybody for their interest. I will remove any restrictions but I tried this before without success. Sorry I cannot give you all ten points Eric

    hello Eric

I don't make cards myself, so I did an internet search

I think you print your own photos, is that right?

I think the most promising thing I found was some new software by Hallmark, the card making company.

    http://www.hallmarksoftware.com/

    They have 2 versions:

    - Card Studio

    - Card Stuido Deluxe

I think you will need Windows XP or Windows Vista to run it - what Windows do you have, Eric?

I have not used this software, so I can't tell you what it's like. Here are what others have said about it on the Amazon website:

    http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B000XSHKCA/re...

This software only got an average rating of 3 stars out of 5, partly due to some initial technical and installation problems, but one user says that this has been resolved now.

Read the reviews and decide for yourself.

    ----------------------------

There is some software here on this UK webpage:

    http://www.focusmm.co.uk/shop/Greeting-Cards-c-231...

    This UK website has:

    - All-in-One Print Studio

    - Create your own Greeting Cards (Second Edition)

    - Create your own Greeting Cards Deluxe

    - Card and Invitation Maker

I have NEVER used this software so I can't recommend anyone over the other.

    -----------------------------

Do you only make cards on this software, or do you also make other things like calendars, etc? If so, we can then look for software which can also make these other things for you.

Are there features on Publisher that you didn't like (perhaps you couldn't place the photos where you wanted to, or it didn't allow you enough creativity) - tell us, as this will help give you recommendations (if I can find anymore on the internet).

    -----------------------------

If you are willing to let someone else print them, there are some websites where you can design your card online and then they will send it to you (after you pay them) - such as this website:

    http://www.photoworks.com/photo-cards/category.jsp...

    Here is one from Kodak:

    http://www.kodakgallery.com/CardOverview.action?so...

I know you are in the UK, and this is a US website, so we will have to find you a UK one if you are interested in this option.

    ---------------------------------

On a Macintosh, the desktop publishing software I would use would be InDesign, but it is fairly advanced and I wouldn't use it for doing cards. Are you interested in advanced publishing options? If so, tell us and I'll look for some on a PC.

    --------------------------------

Also I wouldn't give Microsoft Publisher the flick or at least give it a second thought.

Do you have the 2003 version of Publisher? If so, 2003 is not that old.

Did you know you can get additional templates for Publisher from the Microsoft website at:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT1015...

All the best ERIC : )

Source(s): Eric, you have indeed helped us out for a long time, so even though I am not an expert on this (and I also use a Macintosh computer) I have tried to give you some semblance of an answer, as I you were not getting many replies Usually when one of my contacts posts a new question, I automatically get sent an email by Yahoo telling me they have asked a new question, but I didn't see such an email in my in-box for your questions, otherwise I would have jumped to it straight away as you are one of my favourite YahooAnswers people. Also you may wish to extend the expiration, in the that you may occasionally get a few answers later on. Eric, I find that you may have more success asking this question in the Seniors section, as the questions in there seem to last longer - whilst in other sections you often only get replies in the first few hours. Eric please change your settings so that we can email you PS. Eric, LOL means "Lots of Laughs". It is used by a lot of young people nowadays when they find something funny.
