I hear that Kia Motor is thinking about purchasing Ford? Does anyone know if this is happening?

If anything it would be the other way around. Do you actually think that Kia Motors would have enough money to purchase Ford, who has been around longer than any other motor company. Who is a much larger and more wealthy company than Kia??

Although Ford Motor Company is a publicly traded stock, the Ford family still holds a great bulk of voting rights in the company (about 40%) through class "B" stock. If Kia was to buy out Ford, they would have to purchase almost all of the publicly held stock (which would artifically inflate the price) and then try for a hostile takeover by demanding that the Ford Foundation conceed to the sale of class "B" stock. This would be next to impossible to accomplish. Although Kerkorian is giving it his best shot.

All of the American car companies are in joint venture with Japanese companies. Ford is in a partnership with Mazda which, I believe, owns part of Kia. They are all related, they all own part of each other.
