sorry to say but your fuel pump in the gas tank is going bad.

It sounds to me like you may have a fuel system issue. Maybe your electric fuel pump is getting bad. Actually your car may have two pumps. One pump is located inside of the gas tank and the other pump is located along the frame. One pump is a high pressure pump and the other is a low pressure pump. Some other things you can try are the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, throttle poisition sensor, and your fuel pump relay/sensor... The fuel pump relay/sensor is what makes your fuel pump work so if this is bad your fuel pump won't work correctly or not at all. You may also want to check your fuel injecters because they may be getting dirty as well. There are products that you can add to your gas tank that will clean your injectors. You can buy these at most auto parts stores and at Wal-Mart and the like. The bottle will say fuel injector on it. Hope this helps you .

my mazda protege did this (it was an 01) it is the EGR valve... its not much to fix its like $60 bucks.. and they even put it on for me and i gave him $100 bucks in all.... and it was fine after that...

mine would be fine but it got worse with the air on... or if i drove it really hard... because under the heat of the car the EGR expands... it is the tube that filters the particles out before it hits your catlyic converter (however you spell it)

but i was told by the mazda place oh its your fuel pump, your spark plugs, you need a tune up and all this other stuff... it was like almost $900 worth of work.. but took it to my cousin who works on mazdas and he was like the protege and focuses have this problem all the time... because the protege and the focus was the same car from 99-03...

the new protege came out in 1999 and the focus hit the americas in 2000....

my mazda was a 2001 protege ES with a 2.0 liter zetec 4 cyclinder... which powered the focus from 2000-2004....

    i hope this helps... :)

    i hope this helps :)
