Fixing a game CD?
Okay seriously.
This is making me angry.
I got a hold of FFVII - used, sadly enough..
And it keeps... glitching.
Like when Cloud first sees the airship, the game started skipping and the cutscene wouldn't go on and froze completely.
It was a pain.
After much annoyance and button pushing I got it to work but now I'm in the 'desert prison'.
Coral, I think he called it...
And when I try to do something like going into the main menu or moving to different areas... the screen goes black.
I tried going through the gate and it went black, and I waited and pushed stuff for about five minutes and I started hearing that error sound.
I know it's just a scratch.
I looked at it, and there's a few badass ones.
Like the little deep ones.
But anyway~
I can't remember any methods I've heard about.
If any could tell me any that work, that'd be great.
Or if possible... don't some places 'buff CDs' for you?
If anyone could tell me that, too it'd be epic.

If you go to most places that sell games or movies, they can "buff" or resurface the disc. As far as I know not many gamestops have them but I know that Gamecrazy and hollywood video have them. If it is scratched really bad (ring of death scratched) make sure you get their best person to do it. Someone that does not know what they are doing can really mess up the disc worse than it already is. At most places they charge about 1.99 to 3.99.
NEVER try to buy and use a home disc buffer, cleaner, resurfacer unless you payed a good amount of money for one. I have seen some pretty messed up discs come to me from those things.

There's that and if you want to get something to do it yourself, disk doctor/game doctor/dvd doctor is an option. They are all basically the same thing and they usually work pretty good. I've had some pretty gnarly scratches on discs and they played after I used it. Just make sure that there is not the scratches on the label side. That is the kicker. Unfortunely, they don't coat that side with the same amount of protective coating as the read side.

ok. I don't have the game but if you take it to your local video hire shop (blockbuster or civic) they have buffer machines, for about $5 AU you can get your disk buffered. if that doesn't work, take it back to where you got the game and get a refund or a replacement.
