Homestyle Trust Home Improvement Grant?

Has anyone followed through with this?

Update:

I got a letter in the mail saying that I won a grant for 39,000 dollars. It said I was pulled randomly from a list and it came with a pretty legit check for 4, 970 dollars, 3,150 of which are needed to pay government taxes to get the grant in full. I haven't been able to find any info on the internet from someone who has gone through with this completely.

Update 2:

I was wondering if I could cash the check and not pay those "fees" since apparently the grant is in my name LOL.

Hey There ! if you want to know if a check is legit, call the bank that it comes from, they will tell you if it is a legit check or not, I got the same thing only with a different amount, how ever it was to late in the day to call. I have done This on a number of occasions, some were true and some were fraudulent ask the bank only the can tell you if its real or not, many times people miss understand the letters, or they dint follow directions, or they just assume that thing are false, how ever in any case real or not, do your research find out for your self you may be lucky, and get the real deal.

I got the same check and contacted FWS as well as the bank listed M&T.

    FWS sent me this response:

The check you received is a counterfeit check. If cashed or deposited you will be responsible for the return of funds to your financial institution. We are a real company that is the victim of a counterfeit scam. Apparently thousands of these checks were sent out across the country. Please destroy the check or if you wish you can send it to us and we will forward it to the appropriate government authorites.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

I also listed this on http://www.ripoffreport.com/

It is a scam and federal law enforcement officials are involved. Please fax all information to 716-874-0480.

I have not tried it, however they are listed on ripoffreport.com as a scam. This site information is provided by individuals and sometimes is incorrect and others is correct. I have received the same letter or I would not have been looking it up at all.

Since it says it donates to local charities if it is not used, I am inclined to research further.

    Good luck.
