Allergies to latex condoms/lubricants?
I've been trying to find alternatives to condoms (besides the pill), and am starting to think that the reason I dislike condoms is from a physical reaction rather than emotional.
I assumed that the sex-kill was from the thought of fiance having to wear a condom (and knowing he didn't like it).
After talking it over with fiance, the reason he hates them is because I "dry up" - we get a lot of friction, no lubrication despite the lube on the condom, and I feel like I'm burning after.
I wear latex gloves at work, but not for extended amounts of time. I guess my hands become itchy with extended wear, but I assumed it was the drying factor of the powder. I don't notice any swelling or redness.
Does that fit in to an allergic reaction catagory? I've heard not-so-fabulous things about latex-substitutes.
I've heard about the Nuva-Ring... thought I might look in to that too. We were doing the pill only ( 3yrs and both tested neg), but I realised it was making me gain a ridiculous amount of weight (20 lbs on my normally 110 lb frame).

Even if its not a full on allergy, it definately seems like it causing you irritation. I have had this problem in the past too.
When Is tarted realising I had problems with condoms, we tried using non latex polyurethane ones for a while, but they always broke so much more easily than latex ones. We had never had a latex one break and the very first time we used a non-latex one it broke. They just weren't very good and felt unreliable.
So, I went to the doctors to find out what to do. She suggested that since I was committed in a relationship with one person, that we shouldt ry just relying on the pill and not using condoms at all. We have been doing this for 3 years with no problems, you just have to make sure that you are clean from stds and that you take the pill correctly.
Occasionally, obviously I do accidentally miss a pill, if this happens we use a non latex condom for 7 days until I will be protected by the pill again. You just have to be willing to admit to your partner when you need to either abstain or use extra protection because of screwing up the pill.
After my partner and I stopped using condoms, we realised that when using lubricant it was also causing me irritation, so we also changed to a natural brand of lube. The one we use is called SYLK and it is sooooo much better than all other lubricants, it feels so much more natural, doesnt leave you all sticky and gross, it feels pretty much like natural vaginal wetness. It is fantastic, there are a few other brands that make them too.
Give it a go with trying different types and looking at other options. Good luck!

whats up Sami, i think of its the latex condom that u r allergic too. I did a study project (biology) bout allergic and that i had 40-one% of girls who had intercourse till now (from age sixteen to 30) who're allergic to latex. My lil' sister's acquaintances additionally instructed her that they have been allergic to latex. Lubricants are purely one in each of those gel that moisterizes dry surfaces, no longer allergic aspects. could my answer help. ***additionally if u use condoms pronounced by using the answerer above, its stable, however the unfavourable is that it do no longer final longer than latex and would not help as an agent of beginning administration***

Vinyl is the answer. If you are developing an allergy to latex I have seen that with people and they switched over to vinyl and from what I hear they make condoms with those. My husband and I are older so we don't worry about birth control.
