assuming you have a tank large enough for bala sharks
mollies
swordtails
blue emperor tetras
green/red severums
banded leoprinus
firemouth cichlids
clown loaches
tiger barbs
bosemani rainbowfish
austrailian rainbowfish
pearl/blue/gold/snakeskin gouramis
gold barbs
among others who at this time slip my mind :D
you can't just list 'cichlids' as an option... there are FAR too many kinds that need different conditions to be generalized like that...

male chiclids the males have the nice diff, bright color's when you feed them a varied sprunuilia diet
