Why was my question deleted? It was about doing your own acupuncture...?

I can see why some would be squirmish, although what I don't understand is why you would even get irritated unless you were looking for it. I actually meant to ask about accupressure anyway as I know it would be almost impossible to do my own acupuncture. Did they hit the " report abuse" button? Do I lose points if someone does this? Can I find out why it was done? by who? and one more ? since I'm new what is the fastest way to get to level 2?

From the information you gave, I don't see anything wrong with your question. The unfortunate things is that there are MANY users who are just extremely report happy... especially when it comes to the "chatting" violation. It's as if they consider anything with the words "you" or "your" to be chatting, which is a violation of the community guidelines. For instance, they consider, "How long did it take you to graduate college?" to be chatting. It's absolutely ridiculous! So, I completely understand your frustration as I have been a victim of unjustified/malicious reporting.

Y!A's FAQ says that a question or answer will be removed if it's reported by one or more "reliable users." If the circumstance is more serious then the Answers staff may remove a question or answer themselves after reviewing it. However, the majority of the time they're just automatically removed and violation notices are issued, because of the way the Y!A system is designed. I personally feel the whole reporting/violation system needs to be changed because innocent questions and answers will be reported/removed while others, that are extremely offensive, are left alone. PLUS, I know that there are waaaaaay too many trolls disguised as "reliable users" who are out to get other users they don't like by wrongfully reporting them. This is vindictive and uncalled for.

Furthermore, people who state their opinions are being reported as well. And Y!A says that having a strong opinion is NOT a justifiable reason for reporting someone. They just ask that users "do not use slurs to refer to groups of people, do not insult other members, and do not act in a belligerent manner towards others" when stating their opinions. Unfortunately other users still do report opinionated questions or answers regardless of the fact that they don't violate any of the community guidelines. This is EXTREMELY frustrating because honest Y!A users shouldn't have to pay the price for report happy trolls!

Now, if you've received a violation notice you can appeal (they provide a link to appeal in the notice) if you feel that you didn't violate any of the community guidelines. Just know that after appealing you'll receive an automated response that lists the community guidelines and then it will ask you to appeal again if you still believe your question or answer was removed unfairly. (Note: you may want to copy and paste your appeal's details and save it in a word document as you'll probably need to list it again in your final appeal). And sometimes Y!A may immediately approve your appeal. A couple of weeks ago I had a question and my points restored after turning over a violation notice that said I had been "chatting." Plus, I didn't receive the automated response. They approved my appeal on my first attempt. So don't lose hope. People CAN actually win appeals. You just need to make sure that you address your case in a calm and concise manner as opposed to just asking, "Why?" or ranting. As a result the Y!A team will have a better understanding of the point you're trying to make.

And Britt is actually incorrect. You DO lose points, ten to be exact, if you're reported and receive a violation notice.

Now, Y!A DOESN'T list a reason for the violation because the majority of the time, the Y!A team isn't one who flagged your question or answer. When a user reports a question or answer they have the option to give further details as to why they are reporting the question or answer i.e. "insulting other members." This will show up as the violation reason when the reported user receives the violation notice. Now, if the user DOESN'T list additional details, you won't receive a reason. I know this isn't the best format, but unfortunately that's the way it is.

No, you can't find out who reported you. Reporting is kept anonymous because Y!A doesn't want revenge/retaliation to occur if a user is justifiable reported and that user becomes bitter.

And lastly, Britt pretty much answered you last question about getting to level two. I hope this helps.

Yes, either someone reported you by clicking the "report abuse" button or the Answers Team found that it was in violation of the community guidelines (http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines... if you don't think that it is in violation, you can appeal by filling out this form: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/first_app...

If Yahoo! Answers finds that it isn't in violation, they will repost it. If it is, in fact, in violation you will lose 10 points.

You do not lose any points for being reported. But if a user gets reported very often, their account can be suspended/deleted.

Yahoo! Answers keeps the information about who reported you anonymous. And it is probably for the best. Can you imagine the kayos that would happen if everyone knew that information?

    =============================================

Once you receive 250 points, you will have been promoted to level 2! You have 151 points currently, which means that you only need 99 more points until level 2!

Here are the point requirements for each level.

    1 ► 1-249

    2 ► 250-999

    3 ► 1,000-2,499

    4 ► 2,500-4,999

    5 ► 5,000-9,999

    6 ► 10,000-24,999

    7 ► 25,000+

A fast way to get points other than answering is to vote for best answer on unresolved questions. You can vote by clicking on the “answer” toolbar at the top of the page then click on the “vote” tab or, when you see the list of questions available in a particular category, there’s a “vote” tab at the top of the questions. Either way, if you vote then you earn a point per question and help pick the “best answer.” At level 1, you can only vote 20 times per day. Voting 20 times each day means you get 20 points everyday from voting!

At level 1, you can only answer 20 questions per day. Answer as much as your level allows and you will get 40 points each day for answering!

These are the amount of answers you can give per level.

    1 ► 20

    2 ► 40

    3 ► 60

    4 ► 80

    5 ► Unlimited

    6 ► Unlimited

    7 ► Unlimited

As you know, every time you ask a question... you lose 5 points. That doesn't mean you have to stop asking, but you should limit your asking. If you have questions about Yahoo! Answers, instead of losing 5 points, you can ask them at:

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/

If you answer 20 questions per today and vote 20 times per day you will be at level 2 in no time!
