What is best to feed Honey Bees? Most of us are aware that they are in trouble for reasons still under?
debate. It is agreed they are valuable and need help. Lately every evening they have come to my hummingbird feeder to eat/gather... I have googled but only get formulas from actual bee keepers which are way out of line for the hummers.
Since they seem to like my cooking, I guess I could just keep it the same, but I would love to hear some good ideas. The last thing I want to do is cause them any harm.
Thanks so far to you both. We area little late in the season here for me to find more plantings, And because of my work schedule it is hard to keep plants thriving. Do you think that since they like my "cooking" it is correct? My Hummer mix is 1 cup or a tad more in a quart of water brought to a boil and allowed to cool. That was recommended by the Audoban folks. The bees come every evening.
Hmmm, fresh fruits always attract yellow jackets which are very aggressive. I could still throw that sort of thing out away from the "edge". I will repeat this Q in gardens. I tink we all want the best for the bees.

You won't harm them. There is a virus that kills them but scientists are not sure whether they die of the virus or they die because their immune system becomes weak and they can't fight and kill the virus . Their immune system may be becoming weak because of our radio stations, cellular phones etc. They like to eat jam but if you want to feed them ,the quantity of jam in the plate must be shallow, otherwise they will get drowned. Also, they like ripe watermelons and always come when we eat some. , and they like lavender plants.

From what I have read bees need flower nectar. I have a cucumber plant and they love the orange blossoms and also they love my Blue Salvia plant which was cheap to put in a pot and it has increase by 10 times its original size. I love the bees too and I really want them around.
