What are these needle-like spines from the beach?

There are these small, 1/2 - 1/4 inch long clear needle-like spines that stick to my suit and prick me! They look hollow, and they break very easily, but it stings if it gets stuck in you!!! What are these things?!

By the way, I encountered these in Daytona Beach.

    It can be a number of things. Maybe dead sea urchin spines, which are bleached. But we must know what beach this is and the state you are in.
