Ask your doc how much folic acid and other vitamins they want you to take. Look at the label on the vitamins. I bought some prenatal vitamins that didn't have what my doc wanted for folic acid, so I had to go out and buy an additional folic acid supplement.

I didn't go with the sample brands because, after working in the vitamin industry for 6 years, I realized they didn't have much more than the basics with some extra folic acid. I chose to go back to the health food store I worked in and got Perfect Prenatal by New Chapter. They're a bit expensive, but it's the best natural brand out there. I thought my doc would look down on taking a vitamin like that, but when I showed her she actually said they were great and to keep taking them and ripped up the prescription she originally wrote. So I suppose I made a good decision and I really love the vitamin.

I take one that has been studied and proven that children whos mothers took it during pregnancy and breast feeding score higher in testing then children who were not on those vitamins. They have a lot of omega and fish oils in them, they taste really bad but if its healthy for the baby i'll do anything. I dont remember what they are called but if you want to know message me and i will tell you once i get home and read the lalble. Good luck with all of your choices!

Whatever your body will let you keep down b/c some of them can make you throw up at first till you get use to them. I had to take flintstones for a while until I was further along then I just took my walmart brand vitamins after I ate.

Elivit is the best- it has more folic acid (which is the most important) for your growing baby than any other brands. They come in a pack of 30 or a pack of 50. If you go to the Chemist Warehouse, they have them cheaper than your normal pharmacies.

I couldn't take the prescription vitamins. I took the flinstone vitamins, my doctor said to take two per day. If I took them together then they made me sick as well so I had to take one in the morning and one later on in the day. I figured it was the iron that made me sick. Since having the baby i switched from flinstone to a women's multi vitamin and another pill of DHA

my doctor told me that it really didn't matter that much. Only some have extra B 12 or whatever for sickness if you have a lot of that. I bought a bottle of 300 from sams club for 10 bucks and my doctor said they are as good as any she gives out at the office.

I think you are fine with any of them as long as you are taking them. Personally, I based my decision on ease of use. One sample I got required two pills (I don't remember what it was) and the other was just one pill(Prima-care). Also, I noticed that the one that required two pills made me burp up fish oil all day and I wanted to puke everywhere. The Prima-cares give me a little of that so I switched to taking them just before bed and have not had a problem since.

My doc put me one PrimaOne, but before that (when we were trying to get prego) I was just using the prenatals from GNC.

The PrimaOne's are good, they regulate you (going to the bathroom #2)
