Alltel and Verizon merger?
I want to know more about the Verizon and Alltel merger
I have Alltel and I want to know whats going to happen once this takes place
1. Will I be out of my contract with Alltel and be able to get a Verizon phone under a contract? (they have much better phones than Alltel).
2. Will my phone still work? I have an Alltel snap which SUCKS.
3.Will Verizon get my circle and other Alltel services?
Those are all that I can think of right now.
Any more information would be greatly appreciated.
I will also like to know when the merger will be finished, or finalized.
If I opt out of my current contract will I have to pay the termination fee?

The answer to your first question is no, you won't be "out" of your alltel contract, it will still be good. However you could opt out of it if you wanted to. You could also purchase a "Verizon" phone when you are eligible for an upgrade. The second question is yes, your phone will still work. Alltel and Verizon use the same data transfer and call technology so your old phone will still work. The third answer is yes, Verizon will adopt all of alltel's plan policies including my circle. For current alltel customers you should notice nothing at all except the Verizon logo on your bill.
The merger should be finalized around the first of next year, and you should be able to opt out of your contract if you so choose.
