POLL:If you turned a light on in a room, would you turn it off or leave it on when you left?

I always turn a light out when I am leaving a room no matter if I were the one to turn it on or not.

Utility bills are way too high as it is.

Starting from a very young age, it was instilled in us to turn off the lights when we left a room. My father was adamant about that. As an adult, I became so, as well. Unfortunately, my husband and sons were not so stringent and it became a sore spot for me because I ended up sounding like a naggy hag.

I would turn it off. I actually asked a question like this a little while back about conserving electricity. I never waste power because my family is on a strict budget, so I help out in every way I can.

Some bulbs require a small surge of electricity to start up the light, which shortens the life of said bulb, meaning it will be taking up landfill space sooner rather than later. The rule of thumb is 15 minutes. If you're going to be gone less than that, you may as well leave the lights on.

Yes most of the time I do, I leave hall light on at night time for my son as he sleeps as he likes the light as his door open but turn it off when I go to sleep, if just popping upstairs for few minutes then no wouldn't but am good otherwise.
