What's a great diversion to do while driving through Kansas City, MO?
My girlfriend and I are on a roadtrip and driving from St. Louis to Denver. Is there anything really cool to do in Kansas City, so we can stretch our feet. Also, any places to have lunch?

I would suggest visiting the Legends at Village West! It is RIGHT on your route on I-70, which is the LONG interstate you will be on anyway! It is past downtown Kansas City Missouri, on the Kansas side, in Kansas City Kansas.
The Legends has a huge movie theatre with VIP seating, Dave and Busters, tons of shopping and resturaunts, hotels, and plenty of areas to just sit and relax and watch the fountains. (this IS the city of fountains after all)
When on I-70, exit 110th Street, which is the exit right past I-435.
I-435 goes all around the city but you want to go into Kansas to get to the 435 section that I am referring to.
Have fun!

You probably won't want to get very far from I-70, so that will change things a little. Crown Center and the Plaza aren't far from the Interstate, but they're not close either, and not the easiest to find.
I would recommend you check out the new Legends shopping center in KCK.
There are a lot of good restaurants - Jazz and Yard House are my favorites. Also there's a Dave and Busters for some quick arcade fun. If you prefer shopping, you can wander Nebraska Furniture Mart or Cabela's, as well as mostly standard mall fare.
It's an outdoor mall with some fun placards dedicated to famous Kansans. A neat place to wander, kill a little time, and people watch.

You'll definitely want to check out the new Power and Light district downtown (near the Sprint Center) or even the Plaza in midtown. The plaza will probably be more of an afternoon type stop, where as the Power and Light district will be more eventful in the evening hours. Or you could just go for some good 'ol KC barbeque. Everyone has their own favorites, but I'm a BIG fan of Oklahoma Joe's (it's inside a gas station and probably about a 15-20 min diversion from I-70, but not too far out of the way).

Wow! Hope you have a great time on your trip! sounds like fun. I'm new to KC, but it would kind of depend where you are going to go through the city. I don't know that, so I am going to assume you're going through downtown. You can eat at Jack Stack's bbq, the Cheesecake Factory in Crown Center and do some shopping like the other user suggested; or if you like Italian I would suggest Cupini's in Westport on Westport Road, just south of downtown, there is also a Cupini's in Liberty, north of the city. Hope this helps. As far as a place to stretch your legs, KC has lots of nice parks, so any of them will do. BUT, I think Crown Center will prob be your best bet, lots of places to eat, fountains, and some shopping, but you'll have to pay to park....

Worlds of Fun is a nice theme park to stop at. I assume that since you are driving from St. Louis, you know what Dave and Busters is. There is one in Kansas that you can take a brake at. You could also stop at a local mall. I would stop by the Plaza in KC, it has a nice shopping area and some very good places to eat. And finally, you could stop at the Lincoln Memorial to see the WWI museum.

We have a top-grade WWI museum at the Liberty Memorial near downtown that is world class that shouldn't be missed!! Nearby is the downtown crossroads district and power and light district that have loads of restaurants.
IMHO, Legends is okay but the museum is unique.
