I have a question about computer Ram - do you have an answer?

I have a Gateway NX570x I do not understand the Ram configuration. All the pc2 5300 ddr2 ram I see is configured so there are 8 memory chips on each side. I think its called 128 x 64 but my computer ram only has 4 chips on each side I think its called 256 x 64 . I am having a difficult time finding the 256 x 64 configuration that my system needs. My question is are the two configurations compatible? Can I which to the 128 x 64 will it work in my system. Yes I am sure my notebook uses ddr2 pc2 5300 see this link: copy and paste

I was not sure of the memory in my laptop and I did there on line scan and they told me everything I wanted to know. I upgraded with no problems what so ever. Crucial is a good product and its priced very well. Good Luck

Most likely yes because they have the same amounts of pins. If they are the same, the way in which the memory is stored doesn't matter. (which is what you're talking about). The only thing that matters is the amount of pins and type of RAM and speed of RAM.
