    The RCA or composite video is normally a yellow colored RCA jack that has both the color (Chroma U and V) and brightness (Luma Y) going through the same cable, so there are some issues with that.

    Then came S video, that separated the Brightness Y and the Chroma (Chroma C or Chroma U and V) , and this is an improvement over composite video.

    Then came component video, which separated the video to 3 cables. The designation for analog component video signals. The "Y," "Pb" and "Pr" are sets of three inputs or outputs on better video equipment and TVs. The YPbPr signals are derived from the red, green and blue RGB is converted into brightness and two color difference signals (B-Y and R-Y) for TV/video. This is still an analog cable but theoretically capable of 1080p but TV manufacturers design their TVs to have 1080p with HDMI. I have a Sony 1080p 50 inch LCD, and it will only take 1080p on HDMI, and only upto 1080i on component video.

    If your TV is 1080i and it is bigger than 27 inches, then you will see a difference. If your TV is 1080i and you have 40 inches or bigger, you will really see the difference.

    Component is NOT digital, it is analog.

    It is capable of resolutions up to 1080p, not 1080i, it just depends on what the specifications of your TV are.

    VGA is also capable of 1080p but again, it all depends on the manufacturer.

    Composite = analog 480i

    Component = analog up to 1080p

    The only digital transmissions available right now for your picture are DVI and HDMI. All the rest are analog.

    As for your question, component (YPbPr) will look noticeably sharper and more natural than composite (RCA) and if your TV supports HD signals, the step up will be even more pronounced.

    Don't wait another second.

    the PrYPb is component and it will give you up to a 1080i resolution. the rca you are speaking of is composite. dont use this one with the ps3. it may work but you arent getting all the video quality that a ps3 can do.

    PrYPb is a digital connection where as rca is an analog signal go with the PrYPb
