They are a food source of some creatures that walk, fly and swim. They are a host to all kinds of bacteria, viruses and parasites, which is very useful to those bacteria, viruses and parasites.
Your question assumes that things exist for a reason. They aren't here because mosquitoes are good for the world. They are here because the world is good for mosquitoes.

mosquitoes provide food for animals like bats or birds. a fox keeps the mice population and it would eat a bird. basically all animals supply food for one or another and yet at the same time it helps so there isn't an over population of one animal Also mosquitoes pollinate flowers which is needed for plants 2 grow. without bugs like mosquitoes we wouldn't have fruit.

Cool...!!! I too asked the same question,Sadly I was admitted to the hospital twice...once for Malaria ...berrrr!! you wont want to go through that...the second so unlucky Dengue....spend more than a week in the hospital bed paid 5k for my medical bills just popping fever tablet and blood test to check the blade count.....
Guess its God's will to balance the balance sheet for human kind to live or to bitten...!!!

Indeed.
They can carry life-threatening diseases that help balance populations. Plus, they're food for other animals. And they prolly have some other purposes too.

They act as food for other species. And they help those people who make a living by selling insect repellents.

They are food for spiders and some other larger bugs.
But they harm humans...
