i have a bad catalytic converter and my car vibrates at idle is this related.?

Update:

at first the car had the common egg smell then i devoloped exhause leek the gasket at top of converted blew

Update 2:

the vibration started after other problems i have listed oh and is most pronounced when car is first started after it has warmed up there is little or no vibration. i don't get check engine light and plugs all firing. also car only burns 1/4th qt of oil between oil changes . and oil is clear

    Could be, but the other way around. The vibrating engine can break loose air hose and other fittings from the cat. Plus vibrating engine indicates the engine is running crappy (duh). A bad running engine dumps gas into the cat clogging / polluting it.

    Vibrating engine usually indicates mismatched cylinder problems "a" bad plug, sparkplug wire, cracked distrib cap, worn valve or rings.

    In idle the engine runs inefficiently and could placed some unspent gas into the exhaust. ---------- incorrect. With each and each of the EPA emissions criteria, I doubt vehicle engineers enable that to take position.

    could be a heat shield. how do you know your cat is bad. is your car not performing well or stinking, or throw a CEL
