Go to my profile page and click the link there. It is for future Marines..
You can read all about what it means and takes to become a Marine. And you can also read others Marines views on their decision to enlist into the USMC..
There is plenty of info and stories for you to read.

I was a Marine for 8 years and served in both Iraq and Afgan. I am not in a wheelchair and was very proud to serve. I do not always agree with the war but that is not what you want to know. Look, basically you can travel by joining any branch. You can also get educational benefits and veteran loans by joining any service. The Marines however give you a sense of pride you will not find anywhere else. I could never put it in words to you, it is something that you will have to feel for yourself. Its tough and hard and it does not end with boot camp. The world is a much rougher place outside the US. That's where you will be. Unlike some of the other people who answered you that do not have a clue and spout out crap like wheelchair and straw, I know this... you have other Marines watching your back and that is as safe as you can get.

Anything you can think of. It comes to you once you join and you get the most stressful exercises you can think of. But at a great price. You'll be in Iraq as soon as you're done training and right in the middle of heavy crossfire and danger. They say you're trained to do the job, but not many Marines come back home after they visit Iraq. Try the Air Force or Navy. They are less open for dangerous missions.

Did you want to join the Corps as an enlisted member or an officer? You can go to college first, get your degree then go to OCS and become a Marine Corps officer. If you want to join as an enlisted member, after graduating hs you could enlist (talk to a recruiter) then if you decide you still want to go to college while enlisted, you can take some college courses and do MECEP. Either way, I think it's an OUTSTANDING idea that you want to join the corps, and i encourage you to do so! Talk to a recruiter when ever you have the time and you can field all of your questions to him/her.

Be prepared to spend the rest of your life eating through a straw or being in a wheel chair due to amputated limbs. Hey, but look at the bright side... they now have electric scooters and not to mention the free medical. That means you wont have to pay for any of it.
