Why do I have email dated 26th July? It's been in my inbox for couple of days now.?

Update:

Computer date is correct. It's an email about skiing but wish it was lottery winning numbers!!

Update 2:

Now have two more - 28th and 29th July. What's the best way to stop this spam?

The computer date will be wrong on the computer it was sent from.

I have a friend who does this on purpose so that his Emails stick to the top of someone's inbox for a while until the date passes.

I don't know how he does it but it works!

If you don't know the addressee, then it's a ploy to get you to open it. Just spam it and delete. Spammers do that to get you to open it out of curiosity. Sometimes they will date it way in the past like 40 or 50 years ago, or way into the future.

It's a message from the future! Maybe it has the winning lottery number in it!
