Why is it beautiful when non-black women have black women's features?

I noticed that the media and Hollywood portray white women as beautiful when they have full lips, round asses, small waists, and a curvaceous figure? It's not fair, because black women had those features before them and they're not getting attention from it. They used to be ridicued from it and demeaned for having those. But, now when you see Angelina Jolie and Kim Kardashian with those features, they get praised for it. If being black is so ugly, why do white women go out and get lip injections, butt implants, and tan to make their skin darker. Having pale skin used to be pretty, but now I see a bunch of blond oompa-loompas walking around. You don't know how many times I see cute blonds in clubs wearing their hats sideways acting "hood". It's annoying, because now black is cool provided people aren't really black. I think This is society's not-so hidden agenda, to let us know that black women will never overturn to Eurocentric standard of beauty and that, even when our features are fetishized behind closed doors, white women possessing these features will always be much more superior than the said black women. Funny, I think.

I agree with keypoint.I have dated women across the spectrum.Personally, the women of mixed heritages(all types) are the hottest on the planet.

From past angry, Black females(none yet from males), both emails and yahoo answers, I already know I am going to get thumbs down, but Black women themselves, do NOT like classically Black features-kinky,coarse, hair, big flat nose, large bone structure(fact-unexercised Blacks have a 10% greater bone density then unexercised Whites), thick lips, broad cheek bones, large butts, and dark, thick skin as opposed to classically White features-straight to wavy, fine hair, small petite, nose, petite to medium bone structure, thin lips, narrow cheek bones, small to medium butts, light, thin skin.

Many Black women call classical Black features UGLY when dolls with these features, are made, but beautiful when a Black Barbie doll is made using basically classically White features.

Most Black women would rather look like Donna Givens(Mike Tyson's ex wife-less classically Black features than the late,Esther Rolle(T.V. Good Times), classically Black features.

Many Black women say, I look like Beyonce Knowles, Tyra Banks, Vanessa Williams, Mariah Carey, Lisa Bonet,Naiomi Cambell,Halle Berry-guess what-ALL these women are of mixed heritages, many half White, so they have watered down, classically Black features as do most of the light-skinned Black models. Many so called "Black" shows use mixed heritages on their shows(i.e.-"The Cosby Show"'s

Lisa Bonet and Sabrina LeBeauf) and Half & Half(Rachel India True).

Why will "Black women will never overturn to Eurocentric standard of beauty and that, even when our features are fetishized behind closed doors, white women possessing these features will always be much more superior than the said black women."?

Bottom line, quite SIMPLY, because most Black women, themselves, do NOT like, even deny, classically Black features so why should nonBlacks be expected to like them when most Blacks, themselves, do not like them?

Black ladies, ask yourselves, who do you wish to look like-Esther Rolle or Donna Givens or Beyonce Knowles-BE TRUTHFUL, then look in the mirror? That will answer why current standards of Black Beauty match current standards of White Beauty.

In reality, the features that are popular ARE NOT BLACK and NOT WHITE, but of the MIXED HERITAGES-some: lips, bosom, butt, and skin color, but not too much(Black) or too much(White), in between-just right-LOL!!!.I love the mixed heritages(ALL types of ethinicities).

Why is it beautiful when non-black women have black women's features? What white women have black people's features? I think that's kind of impossible. I do see white women with collagen lips that makes them look like a fish as well as a nice shaped body but since when is this black features? White women with full figures have been loved for decades look at white women form 50 or 60 years ago they were full figured women not these skinny little twigs you see today. These women are not trying to look black.

well I still am not sure why Anjelina Jolie is as famous as she is. I mean think about it.. why? And I really don't think Kim Kardashian is exactly praised for her looks.

Anyway people always are curious about the "other" side, and in mainstream America that means black a lot of times.

I think it's because in our society(I'm guessing you're from the U.S.) white women are still regarded as the highest form of beauty because of things like their complexsion, their hair texture/length, and slender noses(generally speaking). But at the same time there is also the curiosity about the features associated with being a black woman(round behides, plump lips, very curvaceous bodies). They're interesting because even though these features aren't limited to black women they are not as noticible in any other race(except maybe Latinos). So it's like society finds these features appealing, but would prefer them on a white woman because she is put on a pedal stool more than any other race of women.

I agree(well mostly, I disagree with the tanning part a little). I also think Sunshine and Keypoint(sorry if these aren't your full names) have a very good point in their convictions. Oddly enough, my mom was talking about the exact same points you mention now (we are Black as well). I think its hypocrisy to the max. I'm serious, why should something that is seen as so ugly be seen as freaking amazing when it is on the body of another race of women? I really like your last sentence as well, it pretty much sums it all up.

    Hi there.

I take it this is a British/American based rant?

Because you are SO wrong and the examples you give are mixed-race anyway!.

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and colours, always did - this years fashion is stick-insects with implants, does nothing for me and changes the world not one jot. The "black" you describe is a ridiculous western construct of limited appeal and 99% of the black people in the world wouldn't recognise it at all - or want it.

Stop navel-gazing and open your mind, it is a BIG old world out there.

    Good luck, Steve.

I think that we have a skewed sense of what beauty is. I like when there is a wide variety of 'types' represented in the media. When I see models who are really dark and have very little hair, but have flawless skin, beautiful eyes and smile, i think that we are slowly making progress.

You should read Laura Jefferson’s book "Skin Whitening At Home" ( I saw it's also available in electronic format +video: http://www.skinwhiteningathome.com/ ). After 8 weeks I managed to get my skin a few tones whiter and I also got rid of freckles.

The method she teaches in her book is natural, inexpensive, and is readily available in most homes. You could even find some ingredients in your own backyard. The most wonderful thing about the method she shares in her book is that it will help you whiten or lighten your skin pigmentations, freckles, age spots, acne marks, dark underarms, melasma, or your overall skin color easily and naturally without breaking your bank or producing dangerous side effects. Good Luck!

I agree with everything you said...and i ask myself the same thing..that just society, white people change so much to adjust to whats in with there body and face..it's easier to make something bigger or to adjust something..it's harder to get remove something that you were born with..making it move of a challege for society to accept.

I think you are half right on this. The other half is that some black women use skin lightening creams, straighten and dye their hair. If you look at black beauty magazines a lot of the models are light skinned black people.
