Guitar amp attenuator's?
I'm awaiting the arrival of a 2nd hand marshall valve amp.. I'm also gonna buy an attenuator so as i can play without getting an asbo ... I've been looking on ebay and i'm seeing marshall power brakes for between 80-100 bucks... but there's cheaper alternatives going for under 15... is there really any difference to be had in going for the marshall, surely they do the same job... ?
Much appreciated

First you have to tell me what "Getting an asbo" means , LOL! anyway... , your $15 unit may be different from a Marshall Powerbrake. Isn't the powerbrake inserted between the speaker out and the speakers themselves? Some of these other smaller / cheaper units were made to be inserted into an effects loop - contolling essentially the power section , but not really the same thing. You should check on that..

I have heard good things about the Powerbrakes. But you do not want to go cheap here. Look into a THD Hot Plate. These are very well spoken of.
