It happens, but there is a teacher's "code of ethics" that makes it unacceptabe to date students. Teachers could face disciplinary action by the university at which they teach.
If we are talking about teachers who are adults and the students are minors, then not only is this NOT acceptable to have any relations, but ILLEGAL.

As some have indicated, in some cases it is illegal. Beyond legality though, it is inadvisable because of the potential that a person in power (the teacher) can and does apply pressure to bring about the relationship using such things as grades or within school jobs or a number of other things. There is the potential that the student (if there develops a relationship) can and does use this to bring pressure on the teacher for special favors such as grades, etc.. If the student and the teacher are in different schools then the relationship takes on a different flavor. It is probably OK.

Yes, in America -- if the teacher is a hot female.
This will lead to a criminal conviction with a light sentence of home arrest followed by a book deal, a movie deal (Lifetime Network), and a reality show.

No...a school is a professional place and that is how relationships should be kept. A teacher's job is to teach a student, not to be their friend or anything else. Teachers can like their students, care for them, and do things to help nurture and keep them safe, but there are boundaries.

Back in the day, maybe. In today's society, NO WAY!!! It is not that anything is going on, it is the PERCEPTION, and that's 9/10 of the law.

no!
you can get kicked out of school and the teacher can get fired and never get another teaching job for the rest of their career.

Um, it depends on how old you are. If your six and your teacher is 38 then no. If your about to go to college in three weeks and turning ninteen then go ahead. Splurge in love.
