2002 Ford Expedition blew out a sparkplug . Anyone EVER hear of this before?
The truck broke down on the highway @84,000 miles on the original plugs. I could tell by the sound that compression was coming out of the engine. The next day at the dealership they said the #3 plug had blown out and would require a helicoil to reinstall it. Also damaged the coil. I know what all this means I just never heard of it before!

Plugs blow out all the time. I remember one day a cutie in a BMW came in to the station where I was working as a kid. She was late for a meeting and her car was making a terrible racket. I told her we didn't do mechanical work but I would look at it. I popped the hood and a plug had worked loose and blown out. It was still hanging by the plug wire so I got a wrench from my car re-installed it. Car ran fine, she zoomed off to her meeting. She did come back later than night and well shall we say, showed her appreciation.

Modular motors are well known for that it is because when ford made those heads they didnt make enough threads for the spark plugs so they have the habbit of shooting out
There is a recall on that take it to the dealer

Yeap- Last summer a friends 8 yr old motorhome with 460 cid- approx 60,000 miles on original motorcraft plugs blew one. Insulator stayed with wire-; base (threads only) remained in block.. 3 hrs labour, with easy out tool, to get rusted- in base out of block.... Neglect , severe rust.. To my mind, plugs should be pulled once a year and inspected, cleaned or replaced.
