Use of Evidence?

I've got a trial coming up where we've got charges against a neighbor for stalking and harassment. My question is this;

We had an earlier incident a year ago which went to mediation where he agreed to seek psychiatric help, thus we dropped the charges.

I know the evidence of his actions from that time can't be used to charge him with a crime (as the charges related were dropped), but can we use it to show character? (Video tape of his often bizarre, violent behavior, for example).

This case is in New jersey.

    i would argue no, based of what u said. u said you could not used that past incident but you want us that past incident. can't have it both ways. Despite what we may say here check with the rules of evidence for your state that will be your basis and it will override what we may tell u on here.

    Yes, you can use past dropped cases as a reference for repeated offenses.

    As for the video tapes, just make sure they are bad or violent as a lame one really could work against you making you seem to be the stalker or paranoid person just looking for things.
